NEW SEATS!
No more cushions on old school chairs, and less-than-perfect views: now, thanks to Creative Scotland and the Foyle Foundation, we have comfortable raked seating! These seats mean that every person in the audience has a perfect view.

AFTER PAINTING
Rehearsals for Island Nights Entertainments take place in the painted interior - dark blue in the auditorium, pale colours elsewhere. Now it feels as if the building is ready for use.
GREEN GREEN GRASS
The ground cover has returned and native trees have been planted by the community, thanks to the Forestry Commission.
Summer 2008
PHASE ONE IS COMPLETE!
Here is the front aspect of Druimfin, approaching from the car park. This was taken just after the builders left, in early July, before all the grass has regrown.
BEFORE PAINTING
This was taken during the rehearsals for Macbeth. The interior has not yet been painted (the space has been in constant use since we took possession!), but has made a tremendous difference to everyone involved in Mull Theatre.
February 2008
BLUE SKY BUILDING!
Approaching from the main road. The Production centre is now dwarfing the builders' Portacabins and nearby trees. The windows of the admin offices can be seen on the left.
STAGE DOOR
Taking full advantage of its west-facing aspect, the glass-panelled stage door is big enough for any set. On the ground floor to the left is the workshop window - upstairs will be the admin office.
January 2008
FRONT DOOR
The view as you approach the building from the car park. The bright blue plastic is covering the pre-assembled sections of wood - there will be a more subtle shade of cladding!
INSIDE VIEW
The main space (now with a roof!), looking from the set workshop behind the stage area. The main door is on the left.
THE GATE HOUSE
One of the pillars at the Gate House has been temporarily removed to allow large lorries into the site.
October 2007
THE BIG SPACE
This is where our productions will be put together - it feels vast, but that's probably because there's no roof yet!
AT LAST
It doesn't take long before it looks like a real building! There's a lot more to do, but having the kit assembled gives a real feeling of progress.
FLATPACK!
In October the kit arrived for the framework of the building.
September 2007
FOUNDATIONS
The concrete is laid for the foundations - and the weather is perfect!
THE DIGGERS ARRIVE
At the end of August the heavy machinery arrived and work began on the foundations.
VIEW FROM THE ROAD
The foundations for the side of the building, looking towards the gatehouse.
THE PROFESSIONALS
In the hard hats are representatives from contractors TSL, architects - City Architects Office (CiAO), and Hardies Property and Construction Consultants. Lurking in the background are Tony Cox, Lesley Hastie and Alasdair McCrone of Mull Theatre!
Summer 2007
THE STEADINGS ARE DEMOLISHED
The ground is cleared to prepare for the new building. A couple of the large trees are found to be rotten inside and have to be felled.
THE CAR PARK
The new Mull Theatre touring van sits in the woodland car park. Our new Production Centre will have parking for 26 cars!
June 2006
NEW ROAD
We have a new road, past the administration offices and towards the new cark park. This will allow the lorries etc access to the site.
January 2006
STEADINGS
These are the old steadings which will be removed to make way for the new production centre. Picturesque they may be, however they have no foundations and are falling down.
VIEW FROM SITE
Looking towards Ardnamurchan over the Sound of Mull. To the left is Calve Island, which sits in Tobermory Bay.
VIEW FROM SITE
Our new neighbours – makes a change from the chickens in Dervaig!
ROAD TO THE STEADINGS
Visits to the site require sturdy wellies.
ROAD TO THE SITE
The forestry track which leads from the gatehouse to the site of the Production Centre. This will be upgraded to allow cars to use the road.
THE GATEHOUSE
which has been renovated and is currently used as Mull Theatre’s admin offices. We are in the process of creating a staff car park (to the left).
